The body’s “glucostat” identified

The body’s “glucostat” identified

On the web-site of Karolinska Institutet, there is a recent post regarding a new findings, published in the scientific journal Cell Metabolism; “It is the pancreatic islets that have the overall responsibility for maintaining normal blood glucose levels in our bodies, according to a new study by researchers at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, USA. The findings, published in the scientific journal Cell Metabolism, have important implications for certain diabetes treatments.”

Kroppens “sockertermostat identifierad”

På Karolinska Institutets hemsida finns en nyligen publicerad pressrelease; “Per-Olof Berggren har lett en ny studie som visar att de Langerhanska öarna i bukspottkörteln har det övergripande ansvaret för regleringen av våra blodsockervärden. Studien publiceras i Cell Metabolism och väntas få betydelse för viss läkemedelsbehandling och vid transplantation av insulinproducerande celler till patienter med diabetes.”
